When talking about lawn, the first thought that would come to mind is the type of grass that was laid on it. The common name will include centipede, zoysia, bemuda, and cow grass. But, what about the lesser known name that would invade the lawn with homogeneous type of grass as earlier mentioned. We certainly would call them "weed" and we will find ways to remove them.
But, if these mix of lesser known grass are frequently maintain, it can also form a beautiful lawn.
The picture below is the backyard of my next door neighbor property. It has been vacant for more than ten years. The property owner stays at other place and use this house as a remote storage space.

Rather than letting the property compound developed into an unsightly view, I upkeep the compound and make it as my extended garden. Armed with walk-behind lawnmower and trimmer, I spend no more than 30 minutes fortnightly to maintain the lawn of 1,500 square feet in size. The mowing height is 1 inch. That is, not too high but low enough that I could collect a bag of grass clippings for composting.

The local species of grass mix is much easier to grow and maintain. With little but frequent effort, we can also have a great looking lawn.
HI pa!!! Just thought I could drop a quick comment while I still have a good connection.
ReplyDeleteWhy is there a coin in the grass? And how is the 'compost' project going? I heard you've made quite a lot already! What are you going to use them for?
Are you still gardening during the Ramadhan season?
I'm doing fine here BTW. :D
Hope to here from ya! Bye!
